I am a smoker, but I’m totally fine with the smoking ban in Maxim. There are far more advantages to this whole thing than there are disadvantages IMHO. One of the biggest advantages I think is the fact that the girls don’t have to work in a smoke filled club all night. The fact that the place won’t smell of cigarette smoke is another good thing. I don’t like it when a place has that smoking smell, although as I said I smoke too. And besides, smoking is now banned in all indoors restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. in Vienna so it’s not like they could have done anything against it.

I can't remember where exactly, there was a punter complaining once due to the "smoking allowed" policy:
if he was to wander in a smokey club, the smell would stay on his clothes, betraying his visit to unknown relatives.
I think he explicitely mentionned a wife or family, who would have immediately detected the smell.
Not that laufhaus and clubs were the only places where smoking was allowed, of course.
In my opinion, this is a pretty good thing for such a closed place.
Besides, as said XXX Addict, the new law bans smoking in public places, like it or not.

I always hated the smoke so it is a very good new to me that smoking is prohibited. It is not clear to me why Austria waited so long while all surrounding countries have similar ban already.

I understand why some would like to smoke in a place like Maxim. Drinking and smoking go hand-in-hand for some people. But I agree that it is probably very good news to a lot of people, smokers and non smokers alike. And the girls especially, I think.

the thing is that people and the girls in particular are used to doing it and nobody minded for so long. It must be a big change and I wouldn't want to be the manager's shoes listening to the complaints left and right, probably.
In the long run, this must be for the better. I don't see a scenario in which a smoke-free Maxim struggles because of a reasonable law like that. I think in any brothel, be in FKK or Laufhaus, the girls will smoke less over the course of a day. That already justifies the change, imo.
