A recent government study highlights that Germany's 2017 prostitution law, aimed at protecting sex workers through registration and mandatory condom use, has had minimal success. Despite an estimated 700,000 individuals in the sex industry, only about 30,600 are officially registered, and enforcement of condom use remains largely ineffective. The findings suggest that the law has not met its intended goals, with many sex workers still operating outside the legal framework.
